Meredith is Home!!
Meredith is finally home! She arrived Sunday evening (28th). She has been gone since Feb. 1st. for SIT study abroad in Ecuador and then traveled to Peru and around Ecuador. She had a wonderful experience and has lots of amazing pictures. She will be here til July 20 when she starts a summer class in Nederland, Co. Sounds like a trip to Bolivia is in her future plans. We're hiking tomorrow so we'll try to post some pics.

Pulpit Rock
We finally did the Pulpit Rock hike. I pass the trailhead
everytime I drive north on Nevada to come home
from work. It's a quick hike to the rock but we
did it when it was already hot. We also found a
'secret canyon' that I'd like to explore further.
We decided on this hike after trying to do the
Punch Bowls and didn't realize that reservations
are now needed.

This is a view of the first reservoir above Palmer Lake. It takes about 45 min. to get up here. Sunday was beautiful and it was a free Colorado fishing weekend so there were more people than usual. Wild iris were blooming which I hadn't seen before. This pic is looking out to the Greenland Open Space. It's one of my favorite hikes. We stopped at the Rock House after the hike to get Maggie a doggie ice cream cone.

This past week Arn helped move Val to Dickinson, N.D. They loaded a U Haul truck, put her car on a dolly and drove 13 hr. He helped set her up in her temporary place and flew back on Thurs.
She called yesterday and they had 2 in. of snow! In June! Also two fugitives from an Alabama prison escaped and ended up in Dickinson! They were caught after a standoff. Guess her adventure is beginning. I've been trying to catch up with yard work since it didn't rain yesterday. May hike up to the Palmer Lake Reservoirs today. I'll try to post a pic or two.
