North Pole with Lilah Summer 2020
I am very behind in posting and plan to do better. This trip took place over the summer when we were helping out Val and Eric with babysitting. We took Lilah to the North Pole and had a great time even though it wasn't totally open due to the pandemic. She loved the train and we rode it several times. I think she loves the sugar intake when she is with us also. We also rode the sky ride but she wouldn't do the candy cane slide (Gma did). We stopped by the Wines of Colorado to have a creekside lunch and enjoyed that too.

Mt. Muscoco Hike
Muscoco Mountain (8020 ft / 2444 m) is a prominent peak in the Cheyenne Canyon, situated on the ridge west of Mt.Cutler. It is a 3.6 mi. round trip trail and has wonderful views. We started a little late so it made for a warm hike. We would definitely do it again but start much earlier, take more water, and a snack that doesn't melt!

Local Celebrity Alert
I had heard during the last Olympics that Jason Brown trains in Monument and attends college in Colorado Springs and already knew that Gma really enjoys watching ice skating and ice dancing. Our local ice rink is doing very well and about 6 kids are training there instead of at the Broadmoor. Gma and I went to see the end of the summer exhibition before she returned home to Ohio. She was thrilled. Jason only skated one routine but it was fun to watch.

Johnny's Navajo Hogan
Today we checked out Johnny's Navajo Hogan. I had a coupon and I've been driving past the Hogan for years. It is on the National Historic Registry and was built in 1935. The two wooden dome ceilings are built without using any nails. It' been lots of different venues over the years but was reopened a year or so ago and is basically a bar with live music on the weekends. We went for lunch. The pizza was good and the broasted chicken was delish too. It's a cool building and we will probable go back for the chicken or try one of the burgers.

It's all Happening at the Zoo
Tyler and Lauren came for a visit this past weekend. Saturday eve we went to O'Malley's and had another great steak dinner along with wings and fries. Sunday we decided to go to the Cheyene Mt. Zoo in Co. Springs. Arn had never been there and it has been years since Tyler and I've been there. The giraffe exhibit is the best! The zoo is on the side of the mountain down by the Broadmoor. We even got 'flipped off' by one of the gorillas!
