Happy Birthday Valerie!
Happy Birthday to Valerie, Dad's brown eyed girl. This picture is at the age of three at Halloween (she won the costume contest. She spent the day driving home from North Dakota. We're ready with a Hickory Nut cake and will celebrate more tomorrow. Oh, forgot to say...Val is 27 today!

A visit to 'The Little Green House on the Corner"
We just got back from a road trip to see Val and Eric. We went thru Custer, SD, Custer State Park, and Spearfish, SD but will post on that later. The visit was fun and it was great to see all of the beautiful renovations. We golfed, ate, drank, went pheasant spotting, worked in the garden and yard, dismantled the green house, cooked out, walked to Dairy Barn, played with Chops (Mister Baby) , tracked the area storm and tornado, and generally had a good time with Val and Eric. It was fun to dig potatoes, pick lettuce, make fresh pesto from the garden basil, and savor the taste of the first ripening tomatoes. The new bathroom is absolutely gorgeous. Love the hicory cabinets and the concrete countertops! Watch for pics on Val's blog. We can't wait to see the progress on the kitchen. Enjoy and pics and watch for future posts! See more posts about the house progress on the right link to the blog. (Sorry Eric, didn't get any pics of you or Chops)

A Party for the Graduates
5/9/10
Graduation Twofer!
The smaller graduation ceremonies were on Thursday, May 6th. The weather was iffy but it was great that we had the handicap card which gave us great parking place. Meredith got to say a couple of sentences of thanks at hers (held outside in a tent). She got the summer job she wanted which is a lab research assistant. She'll get to do a little traveling to collect field specimens to Flagstaff, Az. and Woodland Park, Co. She will also still work at Whole Foods til it closes. Tyler's small ceremony was in the evening. He's taken a job offer with Schumberger, an oil company, and will start this fall. Houston, Oklahoma, and Louisanna willl all be explored. I think his title will be Jr. Field Engineer. Both ceremonies were very nice and I'm glad they both chose to participate. We went to The Med in between for drinks and apps. Friday morn was the large deal at Folsom Stadium at 8:30 in the morn. Arn and I stayed in Longmont. Stacy and Bea had come up on Thurs. and took Grandma back to Monument that night. We had some ice and snow but the weather warmed up. It was a great ceremony but we're glad we got a two for one. We hit the OPH afterwards and then back to Monument. The next day we had a party at the house. The Lenski's, UJ, Lahnerts, Banks, Stan and Bea, Miranda, and Chris and Maren all came. The weather was cool but the party was fun. So proud of all my kids! Watch for a hulahoop post later!

Road Trip to See Val!
Last week we took a road trip thru Wy, SD, and ND to see Val in Dickinson, ND. Along the way we stopped at Mt. Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, Roughlock Falls in the canyon, Devil's Tower (was in Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind), Teddy Roosevelt NP (Badlands), and spent a couple of days visiting in Dickinson. It's a cute little town in a part of the country we hadn't been before and the people are so nice. Everyone had a good time and it was nice to see Val and Eric.

This past week Arn helped move Val to Dickinson, N.D. They loaded a U Haul truck, put her car on a dolly and drove 13 hr. He helped set her up in her temporary place and flew back on Thurs.
She called yesterday and they had 2 in. of snow! In June! Also two fugitives from an Alabama prison escaped and ended up in Dickinson! They were caught after a standoff. Guess her adventure is beginning. I've been trying to catch up with yard work since it didn't rain yesterday. May hike up to the Palmer Lake Reservoirs today. I'll try to post a pic or two.
