Really late........found some Easter 2012 pics

I found these pics that Maren had sent to me and thought I'd post them.  The weather was great that day and we grilled and played bocce.  I'd link it to the actual Easter post but I don't know how to do that.  Help me out Val.

Walkin' About Mellow Yellow

I met Meredith in Buena Vista this past Sunday and we hiked a small section of the Colorado Trail near Cottonwood Creek and Cottonwood Lake.  The weather was beautiful as well as the aspens.  Clyde had a good time fishing for sticks.  We ate lunch at a place we hadn't tried before and shared an elk burger.  I'm trying to talk Arn into heading to Estes Park and RMNP to see the elk rut this year.

Sarah and Ken VS.

A few weeks ago an old friend and coworker came to visit for a day.  I worked with Sarah in the early 80's and we both had baby girls around the same time.  We worked on the IV Team together and she was my Head Nurse (do they even call them head nurses anymore?)  She was great to work with and we've always kept in touch via Christmas cars.   She and Ken were in Colorado for a wedding and a quick trip to New Mexico. They stopped and spent the night and we took them thru Cheyenne Canyon, Garden of the Gods, Air Force Academy, and La Casa Fiesta.  They especially enjoyed the AFA.  It was great to seem them after so many years (once since the 80's when we left Ohio).  Hopefully it won't be so long until the next visit.

Dicktown - 2012

Last weekend Meredith and I went to Dickinson to visit Valerie and Eric.  We had a great time.  It was nice to finally meet Turk and see Chops again.  The garage is now an extra bedroom and looks wonderful.  We did some pheasant hunting training with Turk (pics to follow) , went to rummage sales (not many treasures scored) , checked out the PowWow in Bismark, and helped out with the garden and greenhouse.  The PowWow was a Native American gathering with over 70 tribes represented.  They had drumming and dancing competitions. Of course we had an NDN taco (fair).  On our way back we stopped by Loveland and took Josiah and Trevor out for a snack at Wendy's.  Nice weekend.....and Arn had a good time bonding with Clyde.

The Rabbit Hole

Last evening we tried The Rabbit Hole.  It is a great little restaurant downtown Colorado Springs in what used to be the city morgue.  It is in the bottom of a building downtown. We went for happy hour and really enjoyed it.  We ordered a bunch of appetizers which were delicious and shared an entree. We had spicy Colorado mushrooms, mussels, pork belly tacos, and a fruit and cheese plate.  Some of the dishes were rabbit oriented like carrot soup and rabbit stew.  We ordered the carrot cake and it was very good.
We decided we would definitely go back to this place. During Happy Hr. the apps are half price.  The atmosphere is cool and the art is Alice in Wonderland themed in an artsy way.

Bud's Bar - Sedalia

We've been wanting to try the burger's @ Bud's Bar for a while.  Last eve we stopped on the way home from Denver.  The bar has been around for 60 years and is a local hangout.  The burger was good but the local flavor was better.
There are only 4 choices on the menu which is ok, makes it simple.  Burger, single or double and cheeseburger, single or double.  Beers are all in the bottle too which is fine.  No cheese choice except for American (not my fav). The burger comes on a white squishy bun (not my fav) and pickles and onions. No lettuce or tomato.  It also comes with chips, not fries.  The place was packed with locals and the atmosphere was cozy and rustic.  I think they've perfected a simple way to serve a good burger but not the best we've eaten.
We'd go back if we were in the area (Devils Head hike) but don't think we'd make the drive to Sedalia for the burger.
