40th Wedding Anniversary - 9/1/1979

We decided to take a quick trip for our anniversary in Sept.  New Orleans has been on our bucket list for a while now so we flew in and drove to Mobile Alabama and played golf at a couple of Robert Trent Jones golf courses.  We try to play some of these courses whenever we get the chance while back east.........we've played 8 or so.  We stayed in downtown Mobile for a couple of nights, enjoyed the seafood, and toured some military memorials.  Then we went on to New Orleans where we enjoyed more seafood (especially char grilled oysters), went to some jazz clubs and did alot of walking in the heat and humidity.

More to follow..............

Gma turned 94 on August 25th.......we had a quiet celebration with part of the family while Lisa was in town.  She loves pie rather than cake to we had key lime and peach pie and ice cream. While Lisa was here she and I stopped by Pikes Peak Brewry and enjoyed a John Denver tribute band.

Meredith and Tim gave us a gift certif. to Avalanche Ranch and we had a wonderful time.  We drove to Rifle and played golf, spent the night in Glenwood Springs, and drove on to Redstone and Avalanche Ranch.  Redstone is a beautiful little town with lots of beautiful scenery.  We decided to hike to Crystal Mill so we could take our time and it was a great hike along the Crystal River to the mill and on to the small cabin village of Crystal.  It took us about 5 hours and was about 11 miles.  We went to the local bbq place (great) and then finished the day at the hot springs and sat out by the river.  We drove home thru Aspen and Snowmass and came home over Independence Pass.  What a wonderful staycation!!
