The Zender Family Visit

The Zender Family came for a short visit on their travels across the country.  We really enjoyed their visit and meeting Luke (7 mo) for the first time.  They are such great people and have reallly helped with Gma and her home in Ohio.

Stuffed french toast - Arn

'Clean out the Fridge' - quiche

Arn made some pretty good stuffed french toast (Arlene's recipe is better) - he used some clementine preserves to sweeten the cream cheese stuffing.  Next time we'll use a french bread or challah bread -  the thoughtfullness was pretty sweet too!
I always make my own pie crust and decided to clean out the fridge and make a quiche. 
Pie Crust Recipe - 2 cups flour, 1 cup shortening (can use half shortening and half butter) and cold water (start with 1/4 cup).  Mix flour and shortening with pastry blender, then add cold water.  Roll out and save one for later in the freezer.  Makes 2.

Laundry Room Nook Redo

 Our messy laundry room nook got a redo over the winter.  It was quite the catchall - printer, microwave, dog stuff, crowded bulletin board, recycling shoes, etc.  Thanks to a suggestion from Val and ideas from pinterest we ripped it out and made a coat, shoe, nook with a bench we ordered from Target.  I still need to find baskets we like.  Gma likes the bench for sitting and putting on shoes and talking on the phone.  Arn was great with the construction and I did the caulking and painting.

I'm still not happy with our old microwave sitting on the kitchen counter.  We're looking for a smaller one or we may try to move it into the pantry on a shelf.  Also the printer is in the music room and I'm looking for a better cart/stand/small dresser, etc.

Hello and Goodbye to Houston (Tamasy Visit)

We were fortunate to be able to make a trip to see Bernie and Marguerite before they move to Dallas.  We played alot of golf, soaked in the hot tub, ate out, had massages, and reminised.  It was great to see them. Their home and neighborhood are great and I really enjoyed the front court yard and our casita.   Everyone helped with Gma so she had visitors and activities everyday until we got home.
