Bucket List - Melane and Mere vs the Troll!

Meredith and I headed to Breckinridge for a late mother's day get together and I finally made it to see the troll.  They moved it to a new location and I wish it was more difficult to get to so it wouldn't be so crowded.  We hiked and had lunch too on the way home.  We also stopped by a great nursery outside of Breck that had lots of choices of plants and flowers that grow at altitude.

Dambo is an artist and climate activist based in Denmark who carries the title of the world’s most prominent “recycle artist.” He is best known for his colossal troll sculptures that range in height from 16 to 50 feet and ‘live’ as permanent or semi-permanent installations in parks, greenspaces, industrial parks, and in other site-specific locations around the world. Each folklore-inspired sculpture is imbued with expression and character and is built entirely from scrap materials like wooden pallets, fallen branches, and twigs sourced from the location of the installation. Driven by a mission to inspire people to explore our relationship with the planet, many of Dambo’s works have an associated folk tale written by Dambo himself that addresses a complex problem of our world in an approachable, fun way.

The Messinas visit ! June 2021

John, Allison, and kids along with Arlene came to visit for the day and dropped off Arlene for a few days.  We made a quick trip to Garden of the Gods park before they headed to Denver and the airport.  Arlene and I checked out the Broadmoor and visited the kids in Cascade, Denver, and Golden.  We drove Arlene back to Eagle to spend some more time with Chris, Maren, and Adeline.

Quick trip to Santa Fe - May 2021

We realized a storm was coming in the day after Arn's birthday and quickly made reservations and headed to New Mexico.  We left on a Monday morning, played golf that afternoon, played again the next day, played again on Wed. morning and drove home .  The weather was much nicer when we returned!

Arn Turns 70 - May 7, 2021

Arn turned the big 70 this year.  We had a family party with a special order triple layer chocolate cake.

It sure doesn't feel possible that he is 70 years old!

Carlsbad Caverns, The Alamo, Golf in San Antonio - April 2021

After a long winter we decided to get out of the snow and chose a short get away in San Antonio, Tx.

Carlsbad Caverns has always been on my bucket list and we finally made it there.  We explored Carlsbad, NM and toured the caverns. They weren't crowded at all which was a treat.  We drove on to San Antonio............played golf, stayed at a nice resort, toured the Alamo and riverwalk on a rainy day, and played golf a couple more times.  All in all a great way to get a break from shoveling snow.
