Last weekend was the WoodChoppers Golf Tournament at our club. Arn invited Mike from Ohio and it was a very fun long weekend. They golfed Wed. - Sat., went to dinners, drank, bonded, and relaxed. Sat. night was the last dinner event with the women included. The dinner was outside, the weather held (no rain) and we event took a few CD's (Marvin Gaye) for a little after dinner dancing. Throughout the week I met some friends @ La Casa, went to the Art Walk, took Mary on a hike to the reservoirs, and worked some of the time. The guys placed so they got some proshop credit and some cash. Arn even won the Longest Drive event! On Sunday after everything was over we went to Helen Hunt Falls, took the short hike up, ate at Amanda Fonda's on the patio, and celebrated Mike's 61st birthday.

There's a Bear in the Forest!
My friend, Alice took this pic of a bear in her backyard on her deck. Her backyard is very inviting because she has a koi pond. Today on the golf course Arn saw 8 deer and I saw a mother and twin fawns. Love it!

Crested Butte Weekend......with the girls!
Last weekend I went up to CB with some girlfriends. I left on Thurs. night after work because Mere had Friday off. I got to meet Mere's boyfriend, Tim and see the house where she live.
It has alot of character and is very cute. She's in town and very close to everything. We rode bikes or walked everywhere. Meredith and I hiked (#403) on Friday morn and then watched Tim and 2 other friends 'creek boat' which is kayaking on a rushing stream (Daisy River?). Mere took pics that turned out great and it was fun but scary to watch the guys go off a 30 ft. waterfall. On Sat. we 4 wheeled up to the Rustler's Gulch Tr. and hiked in until we came to the first creek crossing which was too big to cross. The second on would have been even bigger with all of the snow melt so we turned back and went to the Snodgrass Mt. Tr. which was beautiful. It wasn't that difficult but there were pretty views and fields of lupine. After the hike we stopped by Camp 4 Coffee, and later went out to the Gourmet Noodle. Sunday morn we drove up Kebler Pass, past Irwin Lake to Irwin Lodge and hiked Scarps Ridge. It's absolutely beautiful and takes 1 1/2 hr. up to get to the ridge. The views are great and pics don't do it justice but you can see for miles and look over into the next valley with a semi frozen lake (Blue Lake) down below with many waterfalls. Can't wait to go back!

The Zender's visit....
Last week we had some visitors from Ohio. Mom's (Dorothy's) neighbors, Brian and Sarah, their 3 kids, Brian's brother and 2 kids, and their dad Paul visited Colorado for the first time. They rented a cabin in Woodland Park and saw all of the sights. They spent two nights with us. Arn took them on a hike up to the reservoirs in Palmer Lake which they enjoyed alot. From here they went to Rocky Mt. National Park, Denver, and returned to Ohio. I think they had a great first visit.

Women's US Open Golf Tournament......almost
We both played golf this morning at Woodmoor. The pros had some free tickets for the US Open. We headed south to the Broadmoor and waited in the car (got a nap) til the thunderstorm passed. We finally hopped on the bus, got to the Broadmoor, walked around in the drizzle, stopped by the room where we had access, had a snack, and left due to the play being cancelled for the day due to the weather. The golf course is beautiful and we did get to see a few players come in (the hospitality room we had access to was also for the players I think).
Anyway, we tried. We had a nice time anyway.........
