Veggies from Val and Eric!!!!!!

Today I met Eric's sister in Castle Rock to get a bag of home grown veggies from Val and Eric. Lisa, Eric's sis brought them back to us from North Dakota. As soon as I got home we had tomato sandwiches. My favorite......but not very good unless you have a garden tomato. I made a batch of refrigerator pickles with the cukes and will take a cuke to work tomorrow. For dinner we had the peas which were yummy. Thanks Val, Eric, and Lisa.

2011 Capitol Quilt Show

Today I went to a quilt show in Denver with my friend, Terri L. 300 quilts are hung in the capitol rotunda each year and hang all summer. They were beautiful and maybe it will get me in gear to finish some projects. Several of the quilts were made by people in my guild. After we were finished at the capitol we walked over to the 16th St. Mall and hopped on the trolley. We took it down to Tyler's part of town and met him for lunch at The Tavern. It was a fun day and it was great to see Tyler (he was out in ND on a rig for 25 days).

We did it.....the Manitou Incline!

This morning Arn and I started out on the Manitou Incline @ 7:38 AM. I've wanted to do this for a while (get it done before I turned 60 in a couple of years). It's a mile up, 2000 ft. elevation gain, 50 % incline and took up about 1 1/2 hr. to get up to the top. There were loads of people doing it and many people do it every week. I'd say I'm glad I've done it but not sure if or when I'll do it again. It was brutal ! After reaching the top we hiked down the Barr trail which is the trail that goes to the top of Pikes Peak. It's a bunch of switchbacks (4 mi.) which I don't care for very much. I really felt like we accomplished something though and hopefully burned a bunch of calories. Afterwards we went to Old Colorado City and had a great breakfast at the Bon Ton Cafe and ate outside. Today - 5 mi., 3 hr.
