After our trip down the coast we spent a couple of days with Rock in San Bruno.  We went to the Golden Gate Park (Science Academy), out to eat at Crusteaceans, checked out Pacifica and Half Moon Bay, and had a nice lunch at an ocean front place called the Miramar.

Heading back to Ca. tomorrow ............watch for future posts.

Armstrong Redwood State Preserve

When we left wine country we drove north/west heading for the coast.  We had thought about stopping by Muir Woods near San Fran but heard it was always crowded with tourists.  We stopped by this park and took a short hike/walk. The walk was only about a mile, maye.   It was so peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.  Guerneville was a cute little town that seemed to be very laidback (Ca. hippies).  We stopped by a cute coffee shop and had the best pumpkin cream cheese biscuit/muffin I've ever have tasted.

Sonoma Overlook Trail

Looking out over Sonoma from the top of the hike

A Vineyard view from the hike

Could almost see all the way to San Francisco

Winding thru the Sonoma Cemetary

In an attempt to get some exercise while on our trip we tried out the Sonoma Overlook Tr. right in town.  It's almost 3 mi. long.  While not really challenging it was pretty and we took the trail which ended by winding thru the town cemetery which was really pretty and historic.  There were lots of Italian names and graves from the 30's.

Barrel Tasting

V. Sattui Winery

Kendall Jackson Tasting Room - Healdsburg,Ca.

VJB Winery

We've returned from our adventure into California Wine Country.  It was lots of fun and relaxing.  We went to 3-4 wineries a day and even joined several  'wine clubs'.  We spent one day checking out Sonoma wineries, on in the Napa Area and another day in the area north of Santa Rosa.  The weather was great and we decided its a place we'd return to in a couple of years.  Deciding which wineries to visit was a little overwhelming.  We went to Kendall Jackson, Roche, Cline, Anaba, Romberd, VJB, V. Satuii, and Francis Ford Coppula.

Craftsy Block of the Month - May

I
I'm slowly catching up with the BOM club thru Craftsy. These are the May blocks.  I think I'm going to double up on some of my more favorite blocks.  I'm going for a modern look.....not a traditional block with modern colors.  Val, you know what I mean.

Future Post to Come.

Checking out Sonoma/Russian River Valley/San Francisco very soon..........

Craftsy Block of the Month - June

Since the weather is cooling off I'm trying to get some projects caught up or finished.  I'm behind in my BOM from Craftsy.  These blocks are the June ones...I'm still working on May too.  I've become discouraged and am finding that I disagree with some of the teaching techniques (sewing a scant 1/4 in seam sucks) Also the blocks are often off size or difficult to trim to a 12 1/2 in block.  I don't like the fact that they tell you to use certain measurements and they tell you to trim the the piece which wastes fabric.  My other problem with the class is that some of the blocks are
traditional (I've been there, done that).
So I might skip a couple of the months
and fill in with others or remake some
of the ones I liked.

I've also change the layout on a couple of the blocks because it's 'my' project and I'm making the 'creative' decisions.
