Kevin and Kristin Get Married / Kind of a Road Trip

At the end of Sept we left for Ohio en route to Kevin and Kristin's wedding in New York.  We traveled by way of Ohio.  It was great seeing Mike and Joy, having dinner at Lucca's, and playing golf with Mike before we headed toward New York.  We arrived in the Bear Mountain State Park/West Point area the day before the wedding.  We had time to check out the town of Cold Spring and have lunch at the Depot.  We sat out on the patio beside the train track (don't know why but I thought the train would be a cute little one like the one that goes thru Palmer Lake - got a surprise).  That evening we went to the rehearsal dinner which was very nice.
Hike - The morning before the wedding Arn, I, Val, Eric, and Matt took a hike to the top of Bear Mountain.  We walked along Hessian Lake, took the turn for the Major Welch trail to the top of the Mt.  We passed the Perkins Tower and returned on the Appalachian Trail. Walking on the AT has been on my bucket list and seeing a thru hiker is also on the list (didn't happen).  I think we hiked about 5 miles or so.

Kevin and Kristin's Wedding - It was beautiful!  Bear Mountain State Park was a beautiful location and rally fit the bride and groom.  The inn was incredible and pretty.  Kevin and Kristin's ceremony was touching, the bride was beautiful, and the groom was handsome.  It was a fun wedding with great music and food and it was good to spend more time with family.

After the wedding we drove north and stopped at Fort William Henry, drove around Lake George, stopped at Fort Ticonderoga, played golf at a Saratoga Springs State Park (Saratoga Spa SP), and relaxed.  Arn wanted to revisit the forts and area that he had vacationed at with his parents as a kid.  Toward the end of the trip we headed toward Erie and went to Presque Isle (another childhood vacay spot of Arn's)  The beaches and state park were beautiful with a some history thrown in (Admiral Perry kept his ships here before and after the battle on Lake Erie at Put In Bay).  My request was to visit Cuyahoga National State Park near Cleveland.  We hiked to Brandywine Falls and hike the Ledges Trail before heading to Hudson to see Todd and Sarah.  The trip ended with a visit to Gma's house, the Corner Inn, New Riegel Ribs, and then home to Co. bringing Gma with us. - Special Note - Revolutionary War - one of Arn's favs
