Tedeski Truck Band at Red Rocks

Going to Red Rocks for a concert is always on my summer bucket list.  In August we made it up there to see Tedeski Truck Band.  It was really good and we had a great time with Val and Eric.  We tailgated before the concert with lots of good food.  We'll see who we see next year................
I'll add some pics soon.

Red Rocks Canyon

Red Rocks Canyon is one our favorite hiking areas. It is less crowded than Garden of the Gods and never dissappoints.

Reunions and visits to Ohio

I went home to Ohio for a quick visit with mom and also my 45th high school reunion.  The reunion was very nice and casual and I hadn't seen any of my classmates since graduation - interesting.  Mom kept me busy with lots of small road trips.  We checked out The Tackle Box for perch and walleye, went to The Corner Inn for fried 'mush', New Riegel for ribs, and Jolly Rogers in Port Clinton for walleye and hush puppies. Marble Head  and the lighthouse is always a favorite too.  She said she had never had a 'footlong' so we had a picnic in the park - I think she probably just doesn't remember. Another very simple thing that made her happy was the little Chevy Spark I rented.  Lime green is one of her favorite colors.  We also went to church at the Old Mission Church which was attended by Native Americans.

Hike flowers

Here are some pics of flowers from our hike on July 4th.  We were trying to go for the red, white, and blue theme.  Arn's on the deck having a dark and stormy after the hike.

4th of July Hike

We finally made it to Cheyenne Mountain State Park on the 4th of July.  We did start out too late on our hike because it was pretty hot!  We did about a 4 mile loop on Cougar's Shadow and Blackmere Trails.  We only saw a couple of other hikers (probably because of the heat and the holiday). We followed the hike with lunch at the Navajo Hogan.  We're still getting some use out of our state park pass.

Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is really beautiful and has a variety of beaches(even a nude beach).  We rented a house on a lagoon along with a kayak and a stand up paddle board.  We could find clams right off the dock.  We checked out State Beach, South Beach, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, Larsen's seafood, Net Result, Seafood Shanty, and many others.  Sunsets were great too.  I found Carly Simon's store and her daughter Sally's art display.  Every town had it's own 'flavor and feel' and all of the lighthouses were fun to see and visit.  Lobster rolls, stuffed quahog clams, and swordfish were plentiful and enjoyed.  It was fun getting to know Lauren's family too.  We always wish we had more time to spend with family and friends.
