Here comes Peter Cottontail!

Happy Easter!

We had snow last night! Just thinking back to some Easter memories.......coloring eggs, hiding lots of eggs in the backyard before the kids got up, chocolate bunnies, Fluffy the bunny which Mere had to carry around everywhere, easter breakfast at Red Butte Cafe in SLC when Tyler threw up at the table (we made him finish his cranberry juice or he didn't get to eat any candy when we got home), getting colored chicks as a child and watching them grow into mean chickens or roosters, and I'm sure more will come to me thru out the day.

Maybe we'll see our pet wild bunnies today or the deer that come thru the back yard now (Mag isn't here to scare them off).

You just never know.....

Thursday, April 21, 2011 we lost a friend. Greg (Doc) Rowlance passed away suddenly in Canton, Ohio due to a heart attack. We had last seen him in Oct. 2010 when he and Dougan came for a long weekend to golf and visit. He will be missed and always remembered. We have know him for many years. He was our dentist when we lived in Canton and was Valerie's first dentist. Arn used to play basketball with him when they were all young and single. We remember the birth of his daughter Allison. We had lots of fun times at Alliance Country Club and fun trips skiing in New York. He was always the life of the party and we always had great times on our ski trips to Snowmass and Aspen. He died at 62 but was filled with life. He golfed, scuba dived, flew his own plane, and enjoyed fishing for wall-eye on Lake Erie. He'll be missed by his family (mother, daughter Allison, 4 grandchildren, his pet bird Chico, and by many more). It's hard to believe he's gone but won't be forgotten.

Spring in Ohio??

A new forsythia bush for the front yard for early spring color.

Smithville United Methodist (frozen in time, not sure what will happen to it come June, should be declared historic)

Lunch in Bowling Green with Linda (a nursing school classmate I haven't seen in years) and a visit to Ben Franklin (hard to find these stores)

A visit with cousins - Dick, Deb and Jeff, and Mom. While in Carey, Oh. we also picked up 30 lb. of brats at Saum's Meats. I brought back 20 lb., along with a rhubarb plant. Nice to see them. Such a neat house and great collections. Take a close look at Dick...who does he remind you of?

I wanted to see our pussy willow bush but it has died. Forsythia bushes were everywhere so we got one for the front yard so Mom can see it from her front window. The weather was cold, wet, and rainy so the flower beds didn't get weeded and not too much was accomplished outsided. Baby irises were blooming along with daffodils. We've decided May may be the month to return. We did find 2 robin eggs but unfortunately they were on the ground and not in the nest. Wind???? Lots of birds were busy making their nests which was fun to watch.

Hoping to see the 1st signs of Spring!

'No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.'

Proverb

We're leaving for Ohio and Pa. tomorrow. I'm hoping to see some of the first signs of Spring!

I've always loved pussy willows but I don't know if they would grow in Colorado. Love the way things grow in Ohio. I'm going to bring back a rhubarb plant too. I'm also going to try to bring back another lilac bush (dark purple).

I'll be getting things in order for summer for my Mom, weeding flower beds, getting the garden ready, dentist appt., moving furniture to the front porch, taking Helen (Mom's friend) out for her 90th birthday, tying up strings for morning glories, and whatever else needs to be done.

Arn is heading to Pa. to see Dougan, Nick and Leann and the kids, play a little golf, visit Gma Casciato, see Arlene, and the Messinas.

I also am going to meet Linda (a friend from nursing school) for lunch in Bowling Green. We haven't seen each other in years!

Joe, Ben, Matt, Allison, John, and Ar

We had a quick visit from Arlene and the Messina family. They were unable to get to Vail this past Sunday so they headed our way. They headed up to Vail on Monday morning to ski and have fun with Chris and Maren. It's always fun when they come or we get to see them. Joe, Ben, and Matt keep everyone entertained. They LOVE Playmobile toys and get a kick out of playing with our snow Playmobile and MicroMachines along with their Playmobile toys that made the trip with them. I didn't take any pics while they were here but this Christmas photo and a couple pics from the beach kind of sums them up! Glad you guys came for a visit!!

A little walk around Palmer Lake

The weather has been beautiful. Just right for a walk around Palmer Lake.
